Stephen Tankel
Stephen Tankel is a Research Fellow at ICSR. He currently holds the title of Davis Peace and Security Fellow at the EastWest Insitute, where he previously served as the Deputy Policy Director. Stephen has contributed to publications by the EastWest Institute in the field of violent extremism and radicalisation, and by the Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies in Cairo, Egypt. He has worked in the fields of crisis management and political risk analysis, and also served in the Clinton Administration. Stephen received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a Master of Science degree in global politics from the London School of Economics. Stephen is currently pursuing a PhD at the Department of War Studies at King's College London, where his research focuses on the strategic transformation independent insurgent movements affiliated with al-Qaeda.
